Diana Serra Cary
Bristol Silents are very proud to announce that Diana Serra Cary has agreed to be our newest patron, giving us a direct, living contact with the golden age of Hollywood silent films. As the brilliant child star "Baby Peggy", Diana was a major figure in silent movies in the early 1920s, a serious rival to the legendary Jackie Coogan in the affections of the silent movie public.

At the 2004 Pordenone Silent Film Festival she made personal appearances to introduce William F.Seiters delicious and singular Helens Babies - in which she upstages Clara Bow and Edward Everett Horton - and her major success Captain January, which was to be remaded twelve years later with Shirley Temple in Baby Peggys original role. In our Slapstick Silent Comedy Festival she was seen in The Kid Reporter, which gives her opportunities for (wonderfully unconvincing) detective disguises and spectacular falls from upper windows. It was a triumph and may have started a new Baby Peggy revival!
